Часто задаваемые вопросы
Can you work from photographs?
I can work from photographs but prefer to work from life and like to prepare the initial rough sketches on location. Seeing the location in real life affords me the opportunity to become completely familiar with the scene.
Do you have set sizes?
I make all my own stretchers so I can make them to any size which allows me to make the painting the correct proportions for the subject.
Having said that, I do like painting on square canvases and also have a preferred rectangle proportion that works really well.
How long does a commission take?
The sketches can take anything from a few days to a month, depending on the number of site visits needed. The size of the piece determines how long the painting process takes. It can be from a a few weeks to a number of months, this is because of the way the paint is applied and layered. I work on it, let it dry a little then work on it some more, continuing this until it is finished.
You will receive regular updates throughout the process along with a delivery date
If you have a set date that you need it by, if the painting is a present or for a special occasion for example, let me know at the outset and I'll set a schedule to ensure that it its completed in time.
Do you sign your work?
Yes, every pieces is titled, signed and has the year it was produced on the back of the canvas and there is my small signature triangle somewhere on the painting itself.
Once the painting is finished we agree a suitable delivery date. I deliver paintings myself as much as possible, but occasionally delivery may need to be via courier but this will be discussed and agreed at the initial consultation.
Delivery is free of charge to most of the UK Mainland.
In the unlikely event that your delivery location is not in the free area I'll let you know immediately and give you the price for delivery.
What is a Certificate of Authenticity?
A Certificate of Authenticity is a document that has the details of the work of art, date, meduim and other ket information that is signed and dated by the artist.
In the art world this is the provenance and proves that the original work is genuine.
I include a Certificate of Authenticity with every painting including commissions
Can I keep more than one of the initial sketches from my commission?
